Some of the children weaving this week at Moorhead for Derby Feste Deda Derby with our in house artist Theresa. The very nature of weaving – bringing threads together to create a whole, this will be displayed over the weekend. People felt disconnected over lockdown and many people still do – weaving is a way of reconnecting and feeling whole again. The resilience and adaptability of these children is phenomenal but working in class bubbles and not playing with their other friends is not easy.
Every ribbon represents a child – metaphorically joining together to feel complete. Great conversations have been generated this week by the very act of weaving recycled ribbons together!
