Livewell

Landau Forte Academy Moorhead is proud to be a Livewell Academy. Livewell helps families in Derby lead happy, healthy and active lifestyles. Our 2 Livewell representatives, Sean and Cara, will be in the Academy every Wednesday and are available should you wish to discuss the programme.

The Livewell service, run by Derby City Council, supports people in Derby to lose weight, stop smoking and improve their overall health.

It provides free specialist support for children aged five to 11 and their families through the Livewell Academy, which offers exciting activities, fun healthy eating workshops, individual and group support to boost children’s confidence and improve families’ eating and exercise habits.

Fun activities – suitable for all abilities – include cook and eat sessions, dance, circuits, games, Zumba, family football with Derby County Football Club, swimming and much more.

The Movement’s Live IT programme offers similar tailored support for young people in secondary school up to the age of 17.

To join, children need to be on or above the 95th BMI centile and/or smoke and be registered to a Derby city GP practice. Livewell is an inclusive project and assesses all applications on a case by case basis.

Teachers, teaching assistants, school nurses and others working in schools can signpost parents to join the 12-month programme at livewellderby.co.uk or by calling 01332 641254.
