On Tuesday 10th November, we had our Derbyshire County Final after getting to the final of the Derby City football tournament. The tournament was held in Ilkeston and we started off in the group stages. We won our first game easily with a 1-0 win after a fantastic goal from Kiedis Lee and some brilliant saves from our goalkeeper, Dean Ironmonger. Our next game was against Hilton Primary and although our defence worked extremely hard, the other team were just that bit better than us and we lost 3-0. Our hopes were still high though and we played better than ever in our next game, determined to win and we did just that with a 2-1 win after two fantastic goals from Omari Kellyman. Our final game we knew we had to win but it was tough, we played our hearts out and fought right to the very end with a very strong defence and won 1-0 after a brilliant goal from Pharrel Robinson.
There were 4 other teams in our group and we finished joint top of the group with Hilton Primary and were through to the semi-finals! We played against Brockwell Primary School who were a fantastic team, their coach told us that they had professional training 3 times a week and it showed through their performance and they beat us 5-0. We were a little bit disheartened but we had one final match to play, the decider of 3rd or 4th place. We played our best game yet with a very strong defence again and some fantastic attempts at scoring, we kept the pressure up right to the very end and with 20 seconds to go scored our first goal, winning 3rd place with a result of 1-0. Everyone played really well, tried their best and cheered for every team at the end, I couldn’t have been prouder. Well done everyone!
