We entered two teams into the hockey tournament at Merrill Academy for Years 5 & 6 playing 4 a side quicksticks hockey. Both teams played fantastically and ended up playing against each other in the final. Which team would come out on top, Team A or Team B?
Team A played the first match against Cavendish Close and after some fantastic goals we won 5-0. The weather then took a turn for the worse and it absolutely poured down for the rest of the tournament. This didn’t stop our players though who were more determined than ever to play their hardest and it was our B teams turn, Josie Blackshaw had never played a tournament before and was really nervous but gave the opposition a run for their money with some fantastic defending and our B team won their first match 5-1. There wasn’t much time to celebrate as the B team were straight back on to the pitch for their next game which they won 4-1 with Dean Ironmonger and Denva Strapford-Lewis making a great attacking pair.
This was a fantastic start to the tournament and the next match for the A team saw some fantastic goals from Isaac Stonach and Pharrel Robinson, leading us to a brilliant 7-0 win.
The rest of the tournament gave similar results and we breezed through to the final, but then Miss Wilkinson had a tricky decision to make, both teams were in the final, who should she cheer for?! It was a brilliant final aswell with both teams playing their absolute best and team A just scored with the last 30 seconds to bring it to a 2-1 win. Everyone played extremely well, in pouring rain aswell, so well done to everyone involved!
